Commander Jesse Silva is a 21-year law enforcement veteran, beginning his career with the City of Lompoc in 2001. Commander Silva lateralled to the Santa Maria Police Department in 2002 and was appointed Operations Commander in January of 2022.
In his 20 years with the City of Santa Maria, Commander Silva has held the ranks of officer, corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant and has worked a variety of assignments, including Traffic Officer, SWAT Team Member, Range Master, Traffic Sergeant, SWAT Sergeant, Training Sergeant, Patrol Watch Commander, SWAT Commander, Detective Lieutenant, Community Services Lieutenant, and Communications Lieutenant.
Commander Silva has called the City of Santa Maria his home for more than 40 years. He is a 24-year member of the Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538 and is a recent graduate of the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce – Leadership Santa Maria Valley program.
Commander Silva earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and has completed a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership.
